100 Year Anniversary of Moon Lake Resort
This year is the 100 year anniversary of the Moon Lake Resort. We are doing some special things this year to celebrate. We have written a book detailing the past 100 years of the Resort and it will be available at the lodge. We will have activities and contests throughout the summer with prizes for the winners. Some of the historically popular activities were dances, boxing matches, orchestras/musicians, rodeos, and barbecues. Those activities may not be as popular these days, but we will have other things going on.
Our big celebration day will be June 21 from 9am-12pm. We will have wagon rides, stagecoach rides, a falconry exhibit by Rodney Rowley, Smokey the Bear, a geology exhibit, a petting zoo, “gold” panning, and fishing with the DNR—they will bring fishing poles and bait and teach kids how to fish.
We will be giving out prizes each week for the following activities:
Biggest fish
Photo contest winner
A verifiable picture of Moonie, the Moon Lake Monster, or the Ghost Girl
The best wood-carved or clay likeness of Moonie with clay from the lakeshore
The staff will hide rocks painted with a likeness of Moonie throughout the week. Bring in a Moonie rock for a prize
…other activities to be announced
The attendance for singers we have had come in the past has not been great, but we will try outdoor movie nights and see how well that is attended for anyone who wants to come to the lodge and watch a movie projected onto a large screen. The store will remain open for popcorn, pop, and snacks.
Horseback rides are back this year, and they have a new feature—wagon rides on the beach! You can book them now on the website under Services & Rentals.
Water will be scarce again this year because the Forest Service has still not finished the well they have been working on. We are hauling water again this year, so please be careful with your water usage. Thank you all for being conservative last year which made it nice for everyone.
Elsa’s Tacos will return this year serving meals Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
We still have availability for cabins in early June and August for those who haven’t booked yet. To find open slots more easily, choose a date you are shooting for and click the link below the calendar to view detailed availability. You will then see a chart that looks more like a calendar with red and green blocks with check marks and x’s indicating available dates. You may also call (435) 454-3142 during work hours and we can help you over the phone to find open dates.
We are planning for a fun year and hope to see you all “on the Moon”.
